Marketing Assistant Internship

How did you get a place in the Global Academy?

I filled out the very simple online application form. It wasn’t till about 3 months later that someone got back to me out of the blue and asked me to come in for an interview the next day! It all happened very quickly. The interview went very well and I was a Global intern within the next 3 days.

What did you do in your internship, what was your role?

I worked as a marketing assistant within the Commercial Enterprises Team. I worked mostly on CD and book releases. My role incorporated every aspect of marketing, from aspects of consumer research to PR. I ultimately assisted the product managers in making sure we introduced the correct products into the market.

What was your best moment during your internship?

Spending the day in the Choice FM studio. I was able to get to know the brand better, whilst broadening my knowledge around broadcasting. I remember dancing around the studio whilst the tracks were playing with DJ Pandora!

What did a normal day look like when you were in the Academy?

I don’t think there was a normal day! Every day was different. When you work for a company that is comprised of so many different brands you find yourself one day immersed in Choice and the next day at the opposite end of the spectrum at Classic FM.

How useful was your Academy experience?

Very useful, not only because I have ended my internship with a permanent job but also because it gave me the leverage to begin a career in an industry that I am really passionate about. Having experience at one of the biggest radio broadcasters will make anyone attractive to other companies in the music industry!

HOW TO GET AHEAD

How To Get Ahead

Sometimes, getting ahead means getting hold of some inside knowledge - about what makes a company and its people tick. But very few companies even know what drives their people, and even fewer shout about it.

Here at Global, we do. So click through for an insider’s view of what makes us who we are - and what you’ll need to know.
