At Global we’re all about our vibrant culture. We have a unique take on diversity and how we look out for our greatest asset: our people.

This means making sure we’ve got the right person for the job every time, whatever their background. It means making sure our people are given an equal chance, from recruitment right through to their own personal development once they’ve got the job. And it means doing everything you’d expect of a diverse, equal and fair place to work.

A culture of diversity

Everything we do is underpinned by our culture, and by making Global a fair, diverse and inclusive place to work. Our culture is summarised in our "obsession" statement.

Recruitment

Our recruitment website, jobs.thisisglobal.com, allows us to reach and attract a broad range of talent to the business. It also means that we can begin to work with with 3rd party organisations who represent minority groups.

Our intranet is accessible for all employees, meaning everyone has a fair and equal chance to hear about and apply for all internal vacancies within the Group.

We’re committed to giving people who share our passion for radio and music a foot in the door.  But getting a job can be tough without experience, so we offer the opportunity for people to get a real insight into the world of media through short work experience placements and internships.

Development

As part of our “Be the Boss” management programme, we train all of our people managers on the art of great hiring so that we make recruitment decisions based on the best person for the job, whatever their background. This training covers all aspects of effective sourcing and selection to attract and chose the broadest and best range of talent, and reinforces our belief in diversity.

Being a diverse, equal and fair place to work

We have a range of policies covering all aspects of life at Global, including diversity.

When someone starts at Global, they’re given a handbook which includes a summary of our policies. The full policies are also accessible to all employees on our intranet.

To make sure all our people have a voice, we run an employee survey on a regular basis. We review the result in a number of ways, according to different employee groups. This gives us a real understanding of different groups’ perspectives on working for Global.
