Do your homework - find out as much as possible about the station you’re applying to, paying attention to its style and its audience.

We’re all ears - a link to an audio demo is essential, but make sure it’s more about you, your abilities and how you sound to an audience, than it is about production and music.

You’re in charge - remember that if you’re successful you’ll join us as a self-employed freelancer so you’ll be responsible for declaring this to HMRC and for paying your own taxes.

You’ll have history - you’ll need a track record as a successful Programme Director, Controller or Senior Producer.

Think about what makes great radio - you’ll have a passionate opinion and an impressive portfolio to back it up, all tailored to fit the station and the station you’re applying to.

Be prepared to do some legwork – in these roles you’ll be out and about using the latest mobile technology, so think about how you’d use that to your advantage.

Do your homework - find out as much as possible about the station, check out its listener profiles and programme types, and prepare a 4 minute demo that shows us your passion for similar radio.

Less is more - we’re after quality not quantity, so make sure you don’t overload us with too much information. Give us a taste of what you can do and if we’re impressed, we’ll ask for more.

Be a tech head – you’ll use all kinds of technology in your job, so make sure you know your stuff.
